iPodZeke is the YouTube handle of high-school student and part-time lifeguard Zeke Yunker. For the last two years, Yunker's video walkthroughs of The Sims 3 have guided players through the firsthand experience of the base game and many of The Sims 3 expansions. Yunker routinely spends up to three hours a day recording videos. Here's an inside look at his capturing techniques and a bit about how he came to love The Sims.

How long have you been playing The Sims? What was your first game in the series?

I have been playing The Sims games since I was seven years old, which is a total of nine years. My very first Sims game was The Sims base game.

When did you decide to start doing Let's Play videos for The Sims 3? The oldest video on your YouTube feed is dated a year ago, but were you doing gameplay videos before that?

I decided to start making video gameplays for The Sims 3 back in summer of 2011. I got my first video up on August 16, 2011 on a previous channel that is now deleted.

Have you always been into video games? What got you started on the path to The Sims?

Growing up, I loved electronics, the ones that were out when I was a child. I started playing video games about age six; I had Candy Land on one of our home computers, and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Soon after that, I was introduced to The Sims.

When you set out to make a new video, do you use a timeline or production schedule to make sure you capture specific moments, or do you just go through the game naturally because you've already played it a hundred times before capturing video?

When I set out to record a new video, I make sure all of my recording equipment (microphone, screen recorder, etc.) is ready to go, then I open my saved game in The Sims 3, start recording, and play through my Sims' life. It all happens in real time. I never know what to expect in my game while recording.

If you had to describe yourself as a specific type of player - builder, storyteller, achiever, experimenter - which would best describe you?

I would definitely describe myself as a storytelling/achiever. I make stories with my Sims and their families while trying to achieve their inner goals.

How do you feel about using cheats in your games? We saw a The Sims 3 University Life walkthrough where you were prepared to hock the fridge and the sink to afford tuition instead of just using a money cheat.

Using money cheats in my games of The Sims 3 feels like cheating to me. I'd rather not do so because there is no "motherlode" in real life, and I love the "real life" aspect of my game. If I cannot afford something like tuition to get into a University, I will sell the shower/sink and fridge to get those extra simoleons. I have played The Sims so much without money cheats that I know all the ways of making money the old-fashioned way.

Have you ever had a Sim randomly die while you're recording a video?

During my Let's Play The Sims 3 Showtime walkthrough, one of my Sims woke up and died of starvation! He was going to get food, and boom, never thought his hunger was that low. I felt sort of bad!

What is the most random thing that's ever happened in a game of yours that surprised you?

One time while just playing through a regular day in my Sims' life both of the teens, male and female, went to prom, and by the end of prom they became each other's prom king/queen this majorly surprised me.

What are you looking forward to most in The Sims 3 Island Paradise?

I am mostly looking forward to scuba diving, traveling under the sea, and owning my own five star resort.

What's been your favorite expansion pack in The Sims 3 so far?

My favorite expansion pack would be The Sims 3 Late Night. I love the whole high-rise, party, celebrity life feeling to game. It brought a whole new game aspect to The Sims 3.
