Mystery Awaits in The Sims FreePlay
The latest update brings a new island locale full of secret treasure.
The Sims FreePlay is setting sail in a big way. The new update for the game allows your Sims to leave Sim Town for the first time to explore a brand new locale, called Mystery Island, where quests, rewards and secret treasure await.
Players who are Level 15 and higher will find that savvy Sim archaeologists have discovered a new island just off the coast from Sim Town. Though the island appears to be deserted, there are a few ruins scattered about between large open spaces. In order to get to the island, your Sims will need to complete goals to build a bridge.
Life on a Boat
Once players have completed the bridge, they will find four new premium lots on which to build houses, four spots for houseboats, and a large dormant volcano, as well as the aforementioned ruins. Houseboats are a brand new type of home in The Sims FreePlay, and producer Todd Hutchinson said that while they're small, they can still be pretty awesome.
"There are two awesome designs Simmers can choose from as a base, Economy and Premium Houseboats," Hutchinson said. "You can make your boat as lavish as you want with built-in pools, garden patches, nifty new nautical windows and doors, and lots more."
As your Sims complete specific goals, you'll be able to restore the ruins to their previous majestic states and earn continuing rewards while doing so. Completing all four of the monuments will allow you to unlock the secret of the looming volcano.
Hutchinson said each of the four monuments is tied to one of the four elements, and each will provide you with a different ongoing reward. "The Tempest of Bliss" monument decreases the rate at which your Sims lose motivation; "The Riches of Terra" monument gives you a chance to generate bonus simoleons when completing actions; "The Flames of Wisdom" monument rewards random bonus experience points when completing actions; and "The Springs of Fortune" monument increases the chances that the Flames and Terra monuments will trigger a reward. As you continue to level up your monuments, you will receive greater rewards.
The Grass Is Greener
Besides all the new activities on Mystery Island, the latest update also features two new plants your Sims can grow in their gardens - the Simoleon Sprout and Life Point Lotus Plant. Taking the time to cultivate these plants each day will give you the opportunity to gain a big reward of simoleons or life points, respectively.
